Demre, Myra, and Kekova are among the most popular destinations for Christian visitors during their Alanya holidays. However, thanks to their rich history and natural beauty, these sites also attract travelers of all beliefs and backgrounds.
🚌 The tour starts early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Alanya. After a short breakfast break near Antalya, our professional guide will provide in-depth information about the historical and cultural significance of the places we will visit.
🏛 Our first stop is Demre, a town with deep roots in Byzantine history. Then we continue to the ancient city of Myra, where you will explore the famous Lycian rock tombs, a large Roman theater with a 9,000-10,000 seat capacity, and ancient inscriptions. Myra is also known as the place where Saint Nicholas (Santa Claus) served as bishop in the 4th century. His church remains one of the highlights of the tour.
🍽 After lunch, we visit the St. Nicholas Church, where the tomb of the beloved saint can be found. It is a major pilgrimage site and a remarkable historical monument.
🚤 Next, we head to Kekova Island, Turkey’s largest uninhabited island. Here you’ll enjoy a 1.5-hour boat trip to view the sunken city, which slipped beneath the sea due to earthquakes. If the weather allows, you’ll also have the opportunity for a short swim.
🌊 The remains of the ancient settlement beneath the clear Mediterranean waters make for an unforgettable experience. At the end of the tour, you will return to the harbor and then be dropped off at your hotel.
📌 This is a truly unique cultural journey combining religion, history, and natural beauty.
